  About Lisa Oberg and FamiLux

This site is intended for people researching their Luxembourg ancestry.
Comments and suggestions are welcome!

I have been "officially" researching my family history for twenty years, although it has been an ambition of mine since I was a little girl poring through a suitcase full of old photographs at my grandmother's house. By day I am a librarian, so I guess you might say I was born to do research.

My intrepid ancestors emigrated to America in the mid-nineteenth century (1846-1867) settling in several ethnic Luxembourg villages in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Subsequent generations fanned out to the city of Chicago and the states of Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, and South Dakota.

My Luxembourg surnames and their points of origin in the "old country" include:

Surname, Spouse Location
NEY
Ney, Esper Contern, Mensdorff
Hemmer, Thillen Roeser
MANS
Mans, Welter Redange, Niederpallen
Plier, Reuter Redange, Grosbous
USELDING
Uselding, Has Erpeldange, Diekirch
Bastendorff, Baustert   Erpeldange, Diekirch
LAUTERS
Lauters, Pauls Heinerscheid
Bourton, Mergen Buvange (Belgium)

I don't claim any photography skills, but this is an often-photographed view of Luxembourg City.
